Bangladesh Purchased Military Equipment

Suddenly Bangladesh arm forces place an order for 44 MBT(Main Battle Tank)-2000 and ARV(Armory Reentry Vehicle) from China. Arm Forces will granted army to operate the tanks. Beside that, Bangladesh arm forces bought 2 semi combat and carrier helicopters from France Eurocopter. It suspected the chopper type is cougar.

Then which company offered the MBT?
According to the source, the tanks will be supplied by China North Industries Coorporation(Norinco) and sign the purchase aggreement on June 14, 2011. The contract was signed between five member commitee which headed by Maj. Gen Abdul Matin with the Chinese Defence Ministry.

How can NORINCO win the contract?
According to the government source, Bangladesh planned to buy 7 tanks in 2010 and 7 tanks this year from Chinese Defence manufactures firm. But when Chinese firm entered tender, government suddenly dismissed it and re-invite others four company from four nations such as China, Russia, Ukraine and Pakistan to participate tender. And NORINCO showed up as the winner due to its ability to provide the lowest price for the same quality tanks. Not just 14 tanks but Army requested to purchase 44 tanks.


How long the NORINCO delivery the tanks?
NORINCO projected the whole tanks will be complete delivering in 27 months since the contract signed, which delivery phase will gone into two parts. The first 24 tanks projected delivery to Bangladesh Army at 20 months ahead and the rest on 7 months after. NORINCO was also said that they will given free of charge for Bangladesh army personnel trainning. It also promise in giving an adequate spare parts for those tanks operational. What about the Helicopters?
Not much is being revealed, but according to the Eurocopter said they will buy 2 helicopters and used as UN peacekeeping missions. Not to mentioned type and the price for both choppers.But its predicted as the newer type of NH-90. The choppers will about to send in July next year.

Is that all?
Nope, Bangladesh army was also purchase 18 new cannons type without detailing the types. And the purchase agreement contract might gone next year.

How's they pay?
According to Bangladesh defence ministry, the payment will be separate in the next 8 years.
